Apply to Join the Board of Trustees

Bourne United Charities (BUC) are seeking 2 new people to join its board of Trustees.

BUC are custodians of a portfolio of property and other assets in Bourne and Leytonstone in North London, the revenues of which are utilised in a number of areas within the Parish of Bourne. We do not actively fund raise.

We are responsible for:

13 Almshouses on West Road
The Wellhead Park (including the Memorial Gardens, Jubilee Meadow, and Festival Field)
The Abbey Lawns
Allotments
The Red Hall
51 properties in Bourne and Leytonstone
6 parcels of agricultural land in Bourne.
Our principal activities are the provision of the Almshouses, the relief of need in the parish, and charitable purposes for the general benefit of the people of Bourne.

This is a voluntary role for an initial term of four years. The Trustees meet 11 times a year as a body and there are additional meetings throughout the course of the year for members of the sub-committees which oversee specific areas of BUC’s activities.

Wherever possible meetings are held in the evening, but there are occasions when meetings are held during the day, and you must be able to devote an additional 10-20 hours over the year to this purpose.

This is an extremely interesting role where you will be able to make a long lasting and positive contribution to the town as part of a group of Trustees, helping to ensure that the assets of BUC are properly maintained, and that the income generated from those assets is applied in line with the aims of our Scheme which is governed by the Charity Commission.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the Estate Management, Health, Benefits or Legal sectors.

To apply for this position please submit a CV and a short covering letter outlining your suitability by email to: admin@bourneunitedcharities.co.uk or by hand to the Red Hall, South Street, Bourne.
