Apply For Help

Important Information

Bourne United Charities makes grants to individuals and organisations. For the former please use the Grants Form and for the latter you should use the Project Grant Form.

Please answer all sections as fully as possible, as gaps may delay the processing of your application. Do not leave any lines or boxes blank: if necessary, insert “Nil” or “N/A”.

You must provide all necessary financial information to enable the Trustees to make a fully informed decision. Evidence of financial information such as payslips, bank statements and accounts may be requested to support your application.

WHAT WE FUND:

BUC provides Almshouses (located on West Road), grants for the “Relief of Need”, and for projects that are, in the view of the Trustees, for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish and the Essex Weekly Charitable Payment. Applications will only be considered where the recipient is located within the Parish (Bourne, Dyke, Cawthorpe and Twenty) or where the organisation can demonstrate that its activity is principally targeted at the Parish.

THE PROCESS:

Grants

All applications are initially considered at a monthly meeting of the Grants Committee. If the sum requested is less than £2,500 then the committee will make an immediate decision and you will be informed of the outcome within 24 hours of the meeting. Where requests are in excess of £2,500 then a recommendation will be made to the main body of Trustees for consideration at their next meeting (meetings take place on the last Thursday of the month except December) and you will be informed of their decision within 24 hours of the meeting.

The Essex

You may apply for the Essex Weekly Charitable Payment at any time. Decisions on eligibility and acceptance are made by the Essex Committee which meets on a quarterly basis. You will be advised of the outcome regarding your application within 24 hours of a meeting taking place.

Almshouses

Where an expression of interest has been received, your details will be added to the waiting list. When a vacancy arises, it will be advertised and you will be advised that you may now formally apply. There are a number of factors in deciding on successful applicants, and the decision will be made by the Almshouse Committee.

Becoming a Trustee

If you have made an expression of interest, your details will be added to the list of potential Trustees. When a vacancy arises, it will be advertised, and you will be advised that you may now formally apply. Decisions on suitability are made by the Human Resources Committee who evaluate your skills and experience against the requirements of the Charity. Their decision is put forward to the main body of Trustees for ratification at their monthly meeting, and you will be advised of their decision in due course.
